Why does Kollo use Naticol over Peptan collagen?

Peptan collagen is a well-known brand in the collagen industry. It is a supplier of collagen peptides for other brands to use in supplements, beauty products, foods and more. Peptan collagen peptides have a reputation for their purity and high levels of protein content, making them a very strong choice for use in supplements. It was certainly considered during the development process of Kollo, but we ended up opting for an alternative.

Naticol is another popular brand in the collagen industry, with many similarities to Peptan. But there are some important distinction between the two, and it is those that led us to opt for Naticol as the collagen peptides for our liquid supplement. In this post, we will compare the two a little and try to illustrate why we made the choices we did when developing Kollo.

What are collagen peptides?

Collagen peptides are amino acid chains derived from complete protein molecules, and they are what usually goes into collagen supplements. The reason for this is that those native protein molecules are very large, so if we were to put them through out digestives systems, only a small amount would ever be absorbed into the bloodstream. The amino acids contained in that collagen are key to triggering the production of more collagen in our bodies, so we need to get them into the bloodstream, and the answer is to break the collagen molecules down into a more bioavailable form.

In order to get maximum benefit from this, the process of breaking down the collagen molecules must have no impact on the integrity of the resulting material. The process used is called hydrolysis, wherein certain chemicals or enzymes are used alongside water to break the molecules down into smaller amino acid chains: collagen peptides. With a much lower molecular weight, these hydrolysed compounds still contain all the amino acids needed to stimulate collagen production, but they are also far more bioavailable; in other words, they can be absorbed into the bloodstream with ease.

What are the benefits?

Once in the bloodstream, these amino acids can be carried to the cells to stimulate the synthesis of new endogenous collagen (collagen that is created in the body). Our natural collagen levels decline as we get older, and this leads to the many signs of ageing, including those that can be seen, those that can be felt and even some that cause harm without you noticing. This problem becomes more pronounced in midlife, when our bodies age at a faster rate.

No matter when you start ingesting collagen peptides, you could experience the following benefits:

• Firmer skin with greater elasticity
• A reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
• Greater strength and shine in the hair and nails
• Increased bone density
• Improvements in joint health and suppleness
• Higher-quality sleep and a boost to energy levels
• Elevated arterial health
• Better gut health

These are the benefits we want people who take Kollo to experience, so when researching for the development of the product, we explored Peptan collagen in-depth.

What does Peptan collagen do well?

Peptan produces collagen peptides sourced from fish (marine), cows (bovine) and pigs (porcine). They aim for the highest possible purity of their collagen and always ensure the protein content is very high. The marine and bovine collagen is Kosher- and Halal-certified. One key selling point of Peptan is what they describe as a ‘unique’ amino acid composition, which contains a high degree of glycine, proline and hydroxyproline – three amino acids that are essential for collagen synthesis in our bodies.

Peptan is actually the biggest brand in collagen peptides with a wide range of collagen types which offer various different focuses for the benefits available. There is scientific research that backs the effectiveness of their products and it can be easily applied to a number of different types of products.

There is no doubt that Peptan collagen is a product of great quality so it’s no surprise there are many collagen brands that use it in their products.

Why did Kollo choose Naticol over Peptan collagen?

Naticol collagen is another huge brand in the industry. Just like Peptan collagen, the purity of Naticol is very high and it possesses a very high concentration of the collagen protein in the amino acids composition. With Naticol, just like with Peptan, you will get a wealth of glycine, proline and hydroxyproline to stimulate collagen synthesis in your body. But there are a few factors that made us choose Naticol for Kollo:

The source

Though peptan prides itself on the organic sources of its collagen, we preferred what Naticol had to say about its source. Firstly, it is exclusively marine collagen, which is known to be the most bioavailable and also most closely resemble the structure of the collagen found in our bodies. It is Type I collagen, which is very important for our skin, bones and joints. We also know that it is sourced from fish that are farmed in an aquaculture farm, which is a practice that is reputed to be highly sustainable and uses very few chemicals in feeding that might contaminate the collagen. Furthermore, the process for extracting the collagen is chemical-free, and the product is never irradiated whilst the purity and integrity of the collagen are maintained at all times.

Taste

We believe taste is an important factor for collagen supplements because a good taste will help people incorporate it into their daily routine and stick with it in the long-term. Research has shown that Naticol has no fishy or unpleasant taste to it. This means we were able to incorporate it into our liquid formula along with high-quality natural flavourings for a tropical fruit taste that isn’t tarnished by any other unwanted tastes. It may seem like a minor detail, but many of our customers say they have stuck with Kollo over other supplements because of the taste.

Customer reviews

Generally speaking, we felt that the feedback from customers was more positive overall for Naticol than for Peptan. There are many clinical studies into the safety and effectiveness of Naticol marine collagen, not to mention the 2,000+ consumer reviews that average 5-stars on many sites. There is a general consensus among consumers that Naticol is a powerful collagen peptide source to experience the benefits you want from your collagen product, and this helped us make the decision to choose it over the competition.

How does Kollo use the Naticol marine collagen peptides?

We put 10 grams of premium-grade Naticol collagen peptides into every sachet of our unique liquid formulation. That means you get a high daily dosage that has research-backed benefits for your skin, joints, bones and more. We formulate it as a liquid shot that you mix into water each day because this guarantees convenience, a great taste and maximum bioavailability of the active ingredients.

Speaking of ingredients, we also fortify our formula with B vitamins, vitamin C and l-lysine to boost the effectiveness of your collagen-producing engine once it receives the fuel it needs from the collagen peptides. We want you to experience maximum benefit from Kollo, so we have pulled out all the stops to provide a potent formulation of complementary ingredients the will both fuel and maintain the mechanisms by which your body synthesises endogenous collagen.

Peptan collagen vs Naticol: final thoughts

In reality, there is very little to choose between Naticol and Peptan collagen. We went with the former for the reasons detailed above, but Kollo would still be a fantastic product if we had opted for Peptan. The reason is because we have worked hard to ensure you get maximum benefit from our supplement by making a number of carefully-considered choices. The things that make Kollo great are:

• The high dosage of collagen
• The quality and purity of the collagen peptides
• The ease of use
• The great taste
• The high bioavailability of the liquid format
• The unique formulation of additional ingredients
• The general look and feel of the brand

We have worked hard to deliver the best possible customer experience at every turn, and the results speak for themselves. We have won numerous awards, been featured on TV, earned ‘Amazon’s Choice’ status and been given thousands of 5-star reviews by our verified customers.
